We have a chance, not only to honor the past, but to create solutions for the future. And we can do both of those things at the same time.
Our goal with the Cloud Hill proposal is to create a place that reflects and meets the needs of the surrounding neighborhood and community citywide. We submitted a flexible plan to reimagine Greer Stadium and are committed to working with the community to make this the best place possible for all.
Recently, Jessica Bliss of The Tennessean wrote an article titled “Nashville has plenty of land for parks but paying for and developing them is another matter” that explored the costs associated with Metro turning the Greer Stadium area into a park versus the Cloud Hill proposal.
Several hundred feet uphill from the proposed site for Cloud Hill is Fort Negley, one of Nashville’s unique cultural icons and a place that Cloud Hill honors with great respect. In fact, the name “Cloud Hill,” is actually a line straight from the history of this special place, alluding to the antebellum name for the site, “Saint Cloud Hill.”
Cloud Hill creates affordable and workforce housing near jobs and neighborhood resources. It helps communities pressured with gentrification avoid displacement. It honors the past and future of the city. And it’s what the majority of Nashvillians want.
The vision for Cloud Hill was born out of feedback gathered from the surrounding communities in a number of one-on-one conversations, culminating in well-advertised public meetings held at the Adventure Science Center in 2016. Our objective from day one has been to create a place that serves the interests and needs of the people who live here and call this neighborhood home.
In an effort to address commonly asked questions about the Cloud Hill proposal, we have begun a blog that answers important issues raised by the community.
We wanted to share some excellent news.
Our plan to reimagine Greer Stadium moved a big step closer to reality yesterday, with the unanimous decision by the Metro Procurement Appeals Board to deny the protest that was filed by one of the other project teams.
